Google is a big search engine that started development in 1996 by Sergey Brin and Larry Page as a research project at Stanford University to find files on the internet. Algorithm is a process which uses for solving a problem. Google algorithms are programs and formulas which help users with most accurate results according to queries. Google algorithms are more dynamic and more intelligent than any other search engines.

Finding useful information on the World Wide Web is something many of us take for granted. There are 150,000,000 active Web sites on Internet [source: Net craft]. All those sites to find helpful information is monumental. That’s why search engines use complex algorithms.

Google is that search engine which can make thousands of updates at a time, so you need to be aware of them every time. There have been so many of them till date that you cannot sit and imagine. Still, there are some considerable Google algorithms I am sharing with you:

 Google Panda:

Google Panda use to assign a content quality score to web pages and down-rank sites with low Quality

  • First launched: Feb 24, 2011
  • Nature: Penalty
  • Goal: De rank sites with low-quality content

Penguin:

Google Penguin aims to identify and down-rank sites with the unnatural link.

  • First launched: April 24, 2012.
  • Nature: Penalty
  • Goal: De-rank sites with spam, manipulative link profiles

Hummingbird:

Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query, ensuring that the Whole query, the whole sentence or conversation or meaning is taken into account.

  • First launched: August 22, 2013.
  • Nature: Ranking algorithm change.
  • Goal: Produce more relevant search results by better understanding the meaning behind queries

Pigeon:

Pigeon provide more useful, relevant and accurate local search results.

  • First launched: July 24, 2014
  • Nature: Ranking algorithm change for local search.
  • Goal: Provide high quality, relevant local search results at the top of SERPs

Mobile Friendly Update:

Google Mobile Update means to give a ranking boost to pages optimized for Mobile device. In mobile search   and down rank pages that are not mobile friendly.

  • First launched: April 21, 2015.
  • Nature: Ranking algorithm change for mobile search.
  • Goal: Display mobile-friendly pages at the top of mobile SERPs

Rank Brain:

Rank Brain is an algorithm learning artificial intelligence system. It provides more relevant results for users.

  • First launched: October 26, 2015.
  • Nature: Ranking algorithm change.
  • Goal: Deliver better search results based on relevance & machine learning

Payday Update:

Payday Update algorithm cleaning up pornographic and other spammed queries.

  • First launched: June 11, 2013.
  • Nature: penalty
  • Goal: cleaning up search results for spammy queries.
